On June 20, 2026, we’re bringing the basketball world together for one moment, one shot, one global event — and we want you in it.
This event is powered by ShotBuddy Lite, a free, advertiser-supported basketball shot tracking app designed to help athletes Train, Track, and Analyze performance with real feedback.
What is The Global Free Throw World Record Challenge
The Global Free Throw World Record Challenge is a worldwide record attempt where athletes and Basketball, Fans, and Enthusiasts from around the world attempt a free throw during the official event window. It’s a simple action with a massive goal: thousands of people, one shot, at the same time.
This is a ShotBuddy Event
ShotBuddy Lite is required to participate. This is not an “any app works” event. If you don’t use ShotBuddy Lite during the official event window, your attempt will not be counted.
- Official participation tracking: ShotBuddy Lite is the only approved way to register an attempt.
- Simultaneous reporting: Using one platform lets us compile and publish event metrics at scale.
- Consistency: Standardized tracking keeps the event organized and comparable worldwide.

This is a global event — anyone anywhere can participate, as long as you are using a valid version of ShotBuddy Lite, and it’s allowed where you live.
